Polarised Sunglasses Lens Colours
Choosing a lens colour is not just about personal preference, different lens colours offer unique benefits based on the time of day, weather and other environment factors. This also makes different lens colours better suited to certain activities. Regardless of colour, all lenses in the Ugly Fish range provide maximum UV protection (that’s Category 3) to keep your peepers protected from those harmful UV rays.
SMOKE
The most common and popular colour choice, smoke lenses (also known as grey) are best in very bright conditions as they cut contrast and reduce glare helping you see better. Smoke lenses are great for salt water fishing, boating and chillaxing at the beach. Even better, choosing a smoke lens with an anti-reflective coating will further reduce squinting by filtering reflective glare off surfaces like the ocean and boat.
BROWN
Brown lenses (or copper lenses) reduce unwanted glare and significantly increase contrast so you can see things brighter. Brown lenses are perfect for fresh water fishing, so you can better see your catch in murky conditions, as well as helping you keep a keen eye on the road whilst driving. Also a great lens colour in overcast conditions as well as early morning and late afternoon.
ROSE
Similar to brown, rose lenses add contrast making everything in your sight that much brighter. Rose lenses are the ideal choice in earthy environments such as muddy, murky rivers or desert landscapes and are great for fresh water fishing as well as cycling or hiking.
RED REVO
Apart from looking super cool, this technically advanced mirror treatment maximises the polarisation effect by eliminating even more glare. The red mirror coating is usually applied to a rose coloured lens so are great for fresh water fishing, cycling and hiking.
BLUE REVO
Apart from looking super cool, this technically advanced mirror treatment maximises the polarisation effect by eliminating even more glare. The blue mirror coating is usually applied to a smoke coloured lens and is great for salt water fishing, boating and chillaxing at the beach.
PHOTOCHROMIC SMOKE
Photochromic smoke lenses will transition from dark smoke in bright, sunny conditions to light smoke/ clear in overcast conditions. Like the standard smoke lens, photochromic smoke is great for salt water fishing, boating and chillaxing at the beach providing the best possible vision from sunrise to sunset regardless of the weather.
PHOTOCHROMIC BROWN
Photochromic brown lenses will transition from dark brown in bright, sunny conditions to light brown/ amber in overcast conditions. Like the standard brown lens, photochromic brown is perfect for fresh water fishing and driving providing the best possible vision from sunrise to sunset regardless of the weather.
Polarised Lenses for Dummies
Is all this talk of polarised, and polarisation, confusing? Don't sweat, we break it down for you here in lamen terms.
WHAT IS POLARISATION?
Polarisation is what happens when light waves from the sun are reflected off of a surface such as water, snow, a boat or the road. This reflected light can cause glare and make it difficult to see clearly.
You know the light we're talking about right? When you're outside, or driving, and have to squint and look away cause there's bright light in your eyes.
WHY POLARISED SUNNIES?
Polarised sunnies reduce glare so you can stop the squinting and see what you're doing. The polarised lenses feature a filter that reduces the amount of reflected light, and harmful UV rays, from entering the eye for increased clarity and sharper vision. This also reduces eye strain and the likelihood of headaches.
Polarised sunnies are perfect for the outdoor enthusiast, or sport nut, who is constantly out and about and needs to give it everything they've got. They're especially great for activities such as fishing, boating, sky diving, driving or when you're just at the beach catching some rays.?
