The NRMA has revealed the worst roads in New South Wales due to congestion and safety, as voted by more than 28,000 motorists in their most recent Rate Your Roads survey.
Voting commenced in December last year and a record 10,800 roads were flagged in what is Australia’s largest transport survey.
Parramatta Road in Auburn has been declared NSW’s worst road, with drivers dreading its poor condition and congestion.
Coming in at number 2 was The Lakes Way at Forster due to safety and condition issues.
Other Sydney roads among the 10 worst were Military Road at Mosman, Hills Motorway at Carlingford, Victoria Road at West Ryde, South-Western Motorway at Moorebank and Wakehurst Parkway at Elanora Heights.
Decades of investment has seen some of the most notorious roads, which featured in previous surveys, fall off the list.
New and upgraded motorways and billions spent on regional highways has seen Pennant Hills Road, sections of Parramatta Road and the Pacific Highway removed.
"The NRMA thanks those thousands of Australians who had their say on what is a critical issue facing our nation and joined a grass roots campaign to make our roads safer and more efficient," NRMA spokesperson Peter Khoury said.
"We release the results of this record-breaking transport survey and will spend the next four years ensuring this data helps drive sensible funding and policy outcomes across all levels of government."
